Recommended Binders All students should have a binder labeled with five sections. This is a helpful tool to keep you organized.
- First section: Literature - Second section: Vocabulary - Third section: Grammar - Fourth section: Writing
Lock Out If you are late to class and do not have a pass from an office or teacher, you must report straight to lock out. All of the work that you miss the day you are in lock out (classwork and homework) will be due the following day. If you do not have the classwork along with the homework or if you do not have any of the work the next day, you will receive a zero for the day that you missed, noexcuses. If you are in lock out the day of a test/quiz/presentation, you will receive a zero on the test/quiz/presentation. It is your responsibility to find out the the work that you missed, therefore, you must make a point to see me before the day ends.
Absent If you are absent, you must check this website in order to find classwork/homework. Unless otherwise told, you will be given a one day extension on missed assignments; therefore, if you are absent on a Monday and back to school Tuesday, all of the work you missed is due by Wednesday. If you are absent Monday and Tuesday, and back to school Wednesday, all of your work is due by Thursday, and so on. If you are absent the day of a quiz/test, you are expected to take the quiz/test the day you return, before school, after school, or during study hall -- NOT during class time; there will be no extension on quizzes/tests, unless otherwise told. If you are absent the day a writing assignment/paper is due, you must email me ([email protected]) your work by midnight that day in order to receive full credit. If you fail to do so, your work will be considered late and it will be penalized.
Homework/Classwork All homework and classwork can be found on our class website. Work is due on due date. No late work will be accepted unless otherwise told.
Papers All papers or writing assignments, unless otherwise told, must be in standard MLA format (see writing documents) in order to receive full credit. You must also, unless otherwise told, upload your writing assignments onto turnitin.com (see link), and turn in a hard copy to me.
10 Minute Rule Unless otherwise told, students are not to leave the classroom during the first 10 minutes or last 10 minutes of class for any reason.
